Del Preston

So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweet shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me and Keith Moon and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweet shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shop owner and his son, that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business really. But sure enough, I got the M&Ms and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show.

15 Times Dead – Metasultra

15 Times Dead could be described as metal’s ultimate “nearly men”.  The Glasgow based band initially formed as a 5 piece back in 2004 and built up a strong following, gaining great critical reviews for their live performances that lead the band to the UK finals of Bloodstock Festival’s Metal …

Coheed and Cambria – The Afterman: Ascension

Progressive rock masters Coheed and Cambria should add the word “consistency” into their name somewhere. Coheed, Cambria and Consistency. All right, fine, so it doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, but it does accurately describe the band’s illustrious career so far, as they’ve managed to constantly spew out …

Rival Sons, The Garage, Glasgow Review – 27/09/12

The Everdawn – Poems – Burn The Past

There’s a lot to be said about the musical elitism that follows extreme metal around like a third wheel, but damn it if it isn’t sometimes completely justified. If not for elitism, Deicide would still be taken seriously, Cradle Of Filth would be seen as the epitome of black metal …

Papa Roach – The Connection

Late nineties, early noughties nu-metal giants Papa Roach have been quiet for the last few years. It’s a shame, too, because they had a real flair for writing instantly recognisable, catchy music. In fact, almost everyone into metal has heard their anthem Last Resort, so it’s great for music fans …

Krisiun – Arise From Blackness

Heavy metal from countries other than our own, and to a certain extent the other side of the Atlantic, has always largely been treated as something of an anomaly in the press. Generally, you’ll find that acts hailing from Europe, South America and beyond often appear to be a little …

Time for something a little different. Seremonia are a Finnish group who simply can’t be labelled, as their debut self titled release shows. These guys boast all kinds of exotic influences from Anglo-American proto-metal to Latin psychedelic rock which, as anyone can expect, makes for a…well, certainly interesting record. The …

Gallows – Gallows

Is it unreasonable to blame Gallows for the break-up of our beloved Alexisonfire? Of course it is, but it bears repeating just how heavy the loss of Alexisonfire still weighs in our hearts over a year later. One of the most consistent and vital post-hardcore bands to emerge in the …
