Summary:

Almost 50 minutes long album has everything you would expect from Autopsy – quality death metal, dynamic speed, guitar riffs and hypnotizing solos and of course - zombies. It is like some fast death metal zombie-ish continuation of the previous album 'The Headless Ritual' (2013).

autopsy 2014If there is anything good comming out in USA death metal camp this year, then it is going to be Autopsy. After the reunion in 2009, band became very active releasing EPs, full-length albums and compilations each year, not to mention the DVD ‘Born Undead’ in 2012. So now it is 2014 and there is less than a month left until their newest and anticipated release, ‘Tourniquets, Hacksaws & Graves‘.

‘Tourniquets, Hacksaws & Graves’ is a set of twelve killer tracks with the pure Autopsy sound – there is not much experimentation on this album. Almost 50 minutes long, the recording has everything you would expect from Autopsy – quality death metal, dynamic speed, guitar riffs and hypnotizing solos and of course – zombies. It is like some fast death metal zombie-ish continuation of the previous album, ‘The Headless Ritual’ (2013). There are many things that makes Autopsy a really great death metal band and one of them is technicality of their brutality – it is still a feature on the new album and is as good, if not better. That’s why there is no way you will get bored while listening to the ‘Tourniquets, Hacksaws & Graves’ – zombies and saws will keep you alive and keep the blood boiling in your veins in your darkest wicked nightmares.

The cover art is worth mentioning as well. The cover was made by the same artist, who did remarkable ‘Macabre Eternal’ (2011) album cover – Wes Benscoter. As you can expect for the Autopsy album, there is cemetary in the background, awakening zombies and a close up on one of the undead with a hacksaw cutting of his left hand.

It is hard to choose top tracks for this album, since it runs very well with great continuation. While listening to all of the songs in a row from the very first to the very last, the last track of the album, ‘Autopsy’ is almost six minutes of heavy, crushing, bloody and still really enjoyable death metal, that got stuck in my mind and won’t be leaving for a very long time. Let this be my pick of this solid Autopsy album.

‘Tourniquets, Hacksaws & Graves’ by Autopsy will be released on 21st of April via Peaceville Records.
