Summary:

"...a heady little collection of songs that combines punk, especially in its attitude, with classic metal, psychedelic doom and fuzzed out noise."

Black Gremlin ArtworkThis debut album from upstart Italians Black Gremlin certainly lives up to its name, in that it’s raw – not surprising, since the quartet recorded its seven songs live in one day, and using a traditional 8-track reel-to-reel tape deck.

The result is a heady little collection of songs that combines punk, especially in its attitude, with classic metal, psychedelic doom and fuzzed out noise.  It’s admirable in its intent, and effective in its delivery, with suitably intense performances and an appropriately crude production.

Nothing startling original, and certainly nothing which hasn’t been heard from a thousand DIY garage punk bands before, but a laudable effort to be taken for what it is.
