Summary:

A band very much exploring multiple genres and blending them to create their own sound. Very Impressive in the song writing department, a band that deserves to be heard by a wider audience.

This six track EP from Shildon/ Bishop Auckland based Alt rock band Black Nevada impresses from the off, a glorious chunky riif kicks the first track, “Not Your Enemy” off in great style, a distinctive vox from Jordan Bailey delivers a controlled performance, powerful yet clear, the riff is ever present, creating a great hook throughout the track. A very good rock track.

“Run This Town” has a distinctive Alt rock take to it, modern sounding with great backing harmonies, again a great riff runs through it, though the focus of this track is very much about Jordon Baileys vocal soaring high above the song.

Next song is the current single “Broken”, very much a Lower Than Atlantis, You Me At Six sounding track with a great countdown introduction shouted over a cutting bass line expertly delivered by Jonny Moor. The songs roars into life with a twin guitar attack from rhythm Joe Metcalfe and lead guitarist George Tait. The drumming on this track is particular good, the track slows down towards the end with a nice picked solo, however it is the drums of Sarah Davies that kick start this track for its final run out.

“Winner In The End” is very much a guitar driven track, a great opening riff, leading into a great chorus see’s guitarist George Tait deliver some tasty playing, definitely a track that grows on you.

“Behind These Walls” continues the same hard rock-Alt direction, a great fast paced rocker, with a great inventive guitar breakdown, before all the band blend to create a hard and fast ending.

The Final track “There’s No Time” doesn’t pull its punches, one of the most inventive tracks on here, it brings a refreshing change to what most Alt Rock bands are currently doing.

A band very much exploring multiple genres and blending them to create their own sound. Very Impressive in the song writing department, a band that deserves to be heard by a wider audience. A cracking production brings a real sense of depth to this EP.
