Summary:

Blackrain are an example of a great French band that people need to listen to. A great sleaze rock album that's well worth a listen.

Newly signed to Steamhammer/SPV, French sleaze tock band Blackrain are set to release their new album (their sixth) in September. Formed in 2006 the band have toured playing their own headline shows as well as supporting bands including Europe, Papa roach, Alice Cooper, Ugly kid Joe and Steel panther. Earlier this year they played the main stage at Hellfest.

Check out “Hellfire” from the new album..

A few years ago Classic Rock rated Blackrain as one of the top 10 French bands, and listening to this album I can certainly see why they rated them so highly. The album is packed full of catchy choruses and hooks and definitely hars back to a late 80s sound (which is when many would say the sleaze genre was at it’s peak). While there’s a definite 80s sleazy rock feel, it doesnt feel dated.

One of my favourite tracks on the album is “Public enemy”. It’s got a bit more power and energy than some of the songs and is a really catchy song.

The final track on the album is “A call from the inside”..

It’s a great album. French bands with the exception of Gojira don’t seem to be very well known in the UK but Blackrain are an example of a great French band that people need to listen to. A great sleaze rock album that’s well worth a listen.

“Dying breed” will be released on 13th September 2019
