Summary:

Brave Rival wave their magic wand over new single 'Fairytale'.

Multi –UK Blues Award –Nominated rising stars, Brave Rival, have found a new fan in me after only one spin of their recently released ‘Fairytale’ single, the second one taken from their sophomore album, the self released Fight Or Flight, due for release on August 16th 2024 and it looks like being a busy year for them as they undertake an extensive headlining UK tour, along with several special guest slots with FM on their 40th anniversary tour.

The first thing that grabbed my attention was the twin, haunting vocals from Chloe Josephine and Lindsey Bonnick that followed a quaint, gently picked intro that’s the calm before the storm of crushing riffs. The song is sugar sweet but with an edge, courtesy of gritty choruses, then heading off to the stratosphere from a fretboard burning, air guitar inducing solo and seismic riffed outro that bodes well for the rest of the album.

Lindsey Bonnick adds,”It’s a song filled with darkness, but at the end of the tunnel, there’s light”.

Chloe Josephine adds, “It’s dark, heavy and poetically connects with the fairytale feeling of the mental health World”

Guitarist Ed Clarke adds,”Fairytale started with a riff of mine, and Lindsey added the slow opening intro, with the chorus growing from there”.
