Surrey four-piece Canterbury today reveal the video for latest single ‘Expensive Imitation’. Taken from their third full length ‘Dark Days’. The track has already garnered support from BBC Radio 1 with plays from Dan P Carter, Zane Lowe and Phil and Alice; it has also been made Kerrang! TV’s video of the week.
The video, directed by Scott Peters, sees Canterbury performing the track interspersed with archive images and footage on subjects that inspired the band when writing the track; it invokes the sense of urgency and directness that the song suggests, with stabbing guitars and Luke Prebble’s distinctive vocals over the bridge driving the track to conclusion.
Working with producer, Peter Miles (We Are The Ocean, Dry The River), on their latest album the band have built on their distinctive sound, with their “winning way with pop hooks”(K!) whilst simultaneously developing a darker, more mature feel in their writing which is perfectly highlighted in ‘Expensive Imitation’.
Canterbury will bring this growing confidence to their record-perfect live show as they tour the UK over the coming month.
