Summary:

No doubt that The Anthropocene Extinction by Cattle Decapitation is one of the top metal albums of this year and it is hard to find the reason why it shouldn't be so. The album for those, who despises monotony, do not accept shallow sound and lack of particular atmosphere. Definitely a perfect dozen tracks for the soundtrack of the human nightmare.

Cattle Decapitation – The Anthropocene Extinction (2015)

Fast and furious. Straight from sunny California to your ears with deep dark apocalyptic sound and brilliant atmosphere. That’s right, it is Cattle Decapitation with their upcoming 7th studio album, called The Anthropocene Extinction.

The Anthropocene Extinction is a fine set of 12 fierce and simultaneously depressive tracks with the total runtime of 46 minutes. It seems the album is perfectly built, length and quality wise, as it is impossible to get tired while listening to it. Dynamic depression and apocalyptic feelings won’t let a listener go. Not even for the short break of 1 min 24 sec, called “The Burden of Seven Billion“, when you suddenly drop the fierce guitars, aggressive vocals – the amazingly built atmosphere is still there.

The whole album feels like a natural continuation of the band’s previous full-length album, Monolith of Inhumanity (2012). This album is like a long story, which started long ago, with ups and downs and no particular end: from grinding fast paced tracks, to slow, ambient tracks as “Ave Exitium”. From the pure and naked “The Burden of Seven Billion”, to sound rich “Pacific Grim”, which simply leaves you thinking about what will come next. The band is already teasing their fans by giving them a couple of tracks to taste before the official album launch date. For those, who thought that those are “not bad”: the whole set is inseparable, very involving and well, definitely moving!

Reviewers pick: “Not Suitable For Life”. The ninth track of the whole set: impressive combination of speed, melody, anger, nihilism and brutality. So much in just over 3 minutes.
