COMET CONTROL announce details of new album ‘Center of the Maze’

Tee Pee Records are proud to announce the upcoming release from Toronto space rock cosmonauts, COMET CONTROL, as the band re-enter the atmosphere with their stargazed sophomore album, Center Of The Maze.

Flooded with swirling synths, ghostly vocals and fuzz-bomb guitars that burst into flames in electrifyingly airborne ways, the record effortlessly merges the ethereal and the terrestrial; the end result a 43-minute collection of blinding explosions and brilliant fade-outs. Overdriven riffs reign supreme and songs build with mantra-like power before collapsing into majestic dreaminess. Like watching a rocket take off at close range, the sound of COMET CONTROL is both exhilarating and mesmerizing, propelled into orbit by unwavering melody and unhinged creativity.

The band began writing Center Of The Maze following a winter tour in Europe, effectively going into hibernation, only emerging when it was time to record the album in spring. With recording sessions split across studios in Toronto, garage jam spaces, and even living rooms, COMET CONTROL overcame limitations of time and space to create a truly collaborative effort.

Vocalist Chad Ross explained the lyrical themes behind the album:

Center Of The Maze is about feeling comfortable getting lost. I tried to sum up the record on Sick In Space

There’s no time to take the brightest way, or passages we’ve made
and I can’t go back to feeling sick in space, turn away
let the speed of light shine on everything you thought was far away
now I want to stay in the centre of the maze.

COMET CONTROL features Andrew Moszynski (guitar) and Chad Ross (vocals/guitar), formerly of Canadian psych rock champions (and Tee Pee Records recording artists) Quest For Fire, who Pitchfork hailed as, “a stoner-rock band in the truest sense of the term – one that understands every buzz is fleeting, and that the most blissful high is inevitably answered by the cruelest of come-downs.”
Center of the Maze is the hotly-tipped follow up to COMET CONTROL‘s 2014 self-titled debut, which was hailed as “confident” by Popmatters and “blinding boogie” by Exclaim!.
COMET CONTROL will tour the U.S. and Europe in 2016.

Centre of the Maze is released on June 24, and will be available from the Tee Pee Records webstore.
