Convivium are the Swedish winners of this years Wacken Metal Battle. They play at Wacken along with all the other Metal Battle winners from all over the world to compete for the Over All Metal Battle Champion!
Hailing from the deep forests of Sweden, the four guys of Convivium bring a fresh-sounding style of metal that is both melodic and aggressive, twisting and turning at every corner. A song will take you from a bone-crushing riff to an anthemic chorus, from a blistering solo to a heavier-than-led breakdown and then back again, somewhat technical while still retaining their never faltering sense of musicality.
How would you describe your sound.
Like a new and fresh way of Thrash Metal, Fresh Metal.
How would you describe the metal music scene in your country? What has changed over the last few years.
Sweden does, like in all genres of music, Export a lot of really good music. Metal does most certainly have a strong place with a lot of big festivals like Sabaton Open Air, Sweden Rock, MetalTown and more. Metal has the biggest scene in the southern parts of sweden.
Why did you enter the WOA Metal Battle Competition.
We entered the competition because we felt we had a chance to win, And we have always looked upon this competition with great respect.
What was your initial reaction when you found out that you have won & you were playing at Wacken.
A lot of screaming! We crapped our pants.
What was the best and worst part of the competition for you.
The best part of the competition was obviously winning it in sweden. And the worst part has to be waiting for the results, the nervosity was unreal.
Would you recommend the competition to other bands. Any hints/tips for bands that are looking to enter?
To really have your shit together. And be at the top of your game, this chance is once in a lifetime.
But most important, have loads of fun and always find ways to learn.
What can the audience expect from you at the festival.
A really intense show with loads of melodic, groovy and heavy metal.
Winning this competition for sure. Cant come up with anything that would beat a live gig at Wacken.
Have you ever been to Wacken before? If so when and what did you enjoy most about it.
No, its the first time for all of us!
What is your opinion of the Wacken line-up?
Great! Loads of bands we’ve waited to see!
Can you sum up Wacken in one sentence!
Metal up your ass
