After having their newest track ‘Shapes’ premiere on the Radio 1 Rock Show, Birmingham 5 piece, Cytota reveal the video for the track.
The first new music to be revealed since frontman Griffin Dickinson joined the band, ‘Shapes’ represents a new start for Cytota, with their usual display of technique and power on point, from the metal breaks and driving guitar to a middle-eight displaying Cytota’s building confidence and maturity, with classic rock guitar lines contrasting the sheer force of the rest of the track. On top of this Griffin reveals his ability to switch between a fierce heavy vocal on the verses to epic sung choruses, this is Cytota at their best yet.
The video was helmed by young director Ben Crocker, and features actress Amy-Jane Margetson. Of the inspiration behind the video, director Ben explains: “Well the initial idea was the theme of Stockholm syndrome. I wanted to create something that was a little more subjective rather than literal. The white symbolising purity and innocence but tempted by the black that is an overpowering colour.”
Cytota have spent most of 2014 working on new music for their debut full length, due in 2015, but when they haven’t been in the studio they have taken their fantastic live show on the road with US metalcore outfit Memphis May Fire, played alongside Bullet for my Valentine and graced the stage as Donnington’s Download Festival. Set to make 2015 a year not to forget; with new faces, new music and an unmissable run of shows, Cytota will end 2014 leaving fans wanting more, as they head out on the road through November supporting Japanese, electro/metal hybrid band Crossfaith.
