Dave Lombardo’s PHILM recently announced that their long awaited second studio album, Fire From The Evening Sun, will be released on the band’s new label, UDR Music, on September 16, 2014 in the US (September 15 in UK/September 12 in other European territories). Today, Loudwire is hosting an exclusive stream of the title track, ‘Fire From The Evening Sun’. Catch a first listen here: http://loudwire.com/philm-fire-from-the-evening-sun-exclusive-song-premiere/
Dave Lombardo offers his thoughts on the new track, “The single/title track, ‘Fire From The Evening Sun’ is a strong example of the bands ability to crush the stale norms. You can feel the fearlessness of moving forward, the anger of once being held back, and the release of overcoming all in a furious four minutes. It’s kind of like a resurrection, but with an agitated outcome. Our dislike for formulas brazenly shines in this track. We took this song from a militant vibe, to a feel good classic groove and then hit it with thrash. Expect the unexpected. If you want to hear something familiar, call your mother… you won’t find it here.”
Lombardo adds that the new album Fire From The Evening Sun will mark a different turn in the bands musical journey. “I believe this album has a daring, callous temperament about it that really sums up our mindset right now. No improvising, no fluff. It’s heavy and in your face from start to finish. You may think you know what PHILM is, but you don’t. If you haven’t seen us live, you have no idea. We thrive on being out of our comfort zones and want fans to take that ride.”
