Australian hard rock band ‘Destroy she said’ come from Melbourne and are here with their debut album.
While Australian bands are often compared unfairly to ACDC, sometimes the comparison is very valid – take Airbourne as a perfect example. Destroy she said are another Australian band that it is right to compare to ACDC though. In the case of Destroy She Said, the main reason for the comparison is that singer Simon McCullough has a voice that definitely resembles that of Bon Scott. Musically though they are less like ACDC. There are some ACDC influences here, but Destroy she said are definitely not an ACDC clone – ACDC and Rose Tattoo may have influenced the band’s sound, but Destroy she said have a much more sound that clearly has other influences too.
Brief comments on a few tracks
‘Drivin machine’ is a great track. Great heavy riffs and those excellent Bon Scott sounding vocals combine to make a great song
‘You might think I love you’ is a slower track. It’s still quite a heavy song with plenty of power from the guitars but it is a definite change of pace and adds some diversity to the album.
‘It’s coming out now’ has a great guitar riff that opens the song before the vocals kick in. Again it’s not a fast song, but instead has slow verses and faster choruses. It’s a great track.
The band’s sound is a really good hard rock that ACDC fans will definitely enjoy – it’s got similarities but is different enough to give the band their own identity. It’s a really good album and is definitely recommended.
‘Down to dirty’ is out now.
