Summary:

An utterly compelling brutal display of heavy music with industrial undertones.

Dublin based quartet The Devil Wants Her Swagger Back have created a sound that brings to mind the industrial thud of early Fear Factory with the velocity of The Berzerker on their latest E.P Malice. Due for release on October 1st 2016 it contains a production that hits hard but with crystal clear clarity as every riff, drumbeat and vocal howl sound murderous even through laptop speakers.

An eerie calm before the storm piano led intro of opener ‘The Devil’s Whisper’ ends in a brief burst of rage vocal from Stephen Cannon which leads into the firing line of ‘Casualties’. The main riff from Mick Hynes gets you in a stranglehold from the off, backed by superhuman footwork from Ryan Cummins on drums. The hellish musical churn with a possessed vocal, highlights The Berzerker similarities with aplomb on ‘Off The Wall’, raising the intensity bar higher.

The air raid siren warning opening for ‘2.0thless’ befits the oncoming savage barrage that follows, as huge discordant rhythms propel it along. ‘Wannabe Deity’ contains some atmospheric samples provided by guest D.J David o’ Gara, giving a foil for the slow, heavy grind. The pace picks up midway leading to a crushing finale. Malice comes to an end with the most punishing track, ‘Savages I: Survival Of The Fittest. The Richter scale needle is pushed into the red as every murderous groove is thrashed out.

If you like your heavy music to leave you breathless, then The Devil Wants Her Swagger Back will not disappoint!
