Summary:

If you're a Dio fan then this is an essential addition to your music collection.

Dio’s “Holy Diver live” has long been out of print. The 2006 release has now been remastered and is being released with new cover art. It’s available in digital formats as well as 2CD deluxe mediabook and on vinyl. A limited edition vinyl version features lenticular 3D art.

The album was recorded at London’s Astoria (a much loved and missed venue) in October 2005.

It’s a fantastic setlist covering songs from Dio, Black Sabbath and Rainbow and the band were clearly on form that night. Sadly I havent got the original release so can’t compare the sound quality of the two versions but what I can say is that this new release does sound excellent – nice clear sound and the power of the music is there, so it’s as good as it gets for a live release.

Listening to the album it really does show why Ronnie James Dio is still considered one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time – some of these songs have been covered multiple times by other artists or singers and none has reached the standard Dio set.

If you’re a Dio fan then this is an essential addition to your music collection.

“Holy Diver Live” is out now.
