Doll Skin Release Debut EP ‘In Your Face’

Doll Skin Release Debut EP ‘In Your Face’ via EMP Records/Cargo Records

MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson has created an imprint called EMP Records through the legendary label Megaforce, also known as the launching pad for legendary thrash bands METALLICA and ANTHRAX. The first release is “In Your Face“, the debut six-song EP from the Arizona-based all-female rock quartet DOLL SKIN. “In Your Face” was released in North America on October 30 and will be out in Europe due on December 18, physical & digital via EMP Records/Cargo Records.

In Your Face” was produced by David Ellefson (MEGADETH) and mixed by Ryan Greene (NOFXCHEAP TRICK, LITA FORD).

David Ellefson said: “The first time I saw DOLL SKIN perform was last year at a talent contest my son asked me to attend. I was totally blown away by their energy and great songs and that prompted me to take them into the studio this past summer to produce the “In Your Face” EP. They are young and fresh but are not a novelty teenage act. They are totally absorbed in old school punk roots, while writing forward thinking songs. I was a fan from day one!”

DOLL SKIN recently released a music video for “Family Of Strangers“, which can be seen below.

Due on December 18 in Europe, “In Your Face” features the following tracks:

01. Family Of Strangers
02. Wring Me Out
03. Let’s Be Honest
04. Blind
05. So Much Nothing
06. Weatherman (live)

Formed in Arizona in 2013, DOLL SKIN‘s members — vocalist Sydney Dolezal (15), guitarist Alex Snowden (16), bassist Nicole Rich (17), and drummer Meghan Herring (19) — met while attending the Scottsdale School of Rock. Meghan made the initial connection when bringing the girls together to compete in Rock Revelation Battle Of The Bands. After catching the attention of Ellefson, who was one of the competition’s judges, the band began a sonic assault on the West Coast, playing shows with SOCIAL DISTORTIONGREEN JELLOD.R.I.SLUNT, and many more, through ArizonaCalifornia, and the West Coast.

“It’s refreshing to hear a young band like DOLL SKIN carrying the torch of classic punk rock.” Greg Hetson (Circle Jerks/Bad Religion)

About Louise Swift

I first went to a gig in 1981, Gillan at Leeds University. I've been a regular gig goer ever since. I haven't kept count of how many gigs I've been to over the intervening years, but it's a lot! My favourite bands are AC/DC then, in no particular order, Anti-Nowhere League, Slaughter and the Dogs, Towers of London and Dirt Box Disco. I tend to like Glam/Punk and rude offensive lyrics, not sure what that says about me but as Animal would say 'So What!' The question was recently put to me - did I write for any online publications? My reply - No, but I'd like to! Planetmosh was suggested and I found myself offering to review Aces High Festival. Easy peasy I thought! Well not quite, if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing well! I had sixteen bands to research. I found I actually enjoyed that and it kept me too busy to be making lunatic comments on Facebook! ;) Then I felt a bit inadequately qualified. I mean, who am I to comment on others, when my musical expertise extends to being able to play a mean Greensleeves on the recorder and a passable Annie's song on the flute! Haven't picked up either instrument for years! What I do have, however, is over 30 years of experience as a gig goer, so I can comment on what I like and what I don't! It's only my opinion and, if I don't like a band it doesn't mean they are bad, just not to my own liking. I admire anyone who has the guts to get up on that stage and have a go!
