Tis the season to…announce festival bands? It’s certainly not as catchy, but Download Festival have confirmed over twenty names to play at Donington Park next summer and leave us all feeling a little more jolly. They’ve also started to build the day splits already AND announce the headliners for the other stages alonside main bill-toppers System of a Down, BIffy Clyro and Aerosmith Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la and all that. Let’s get straight into it!
Announced for the Main stage are arena botherers Alter Bridge, Aussie rockers Airbourne, riff-meisters Mastodon and Pierce the Veil.
Over on the Zippo Encore stage, pop-punk outfit Sum 41 have been confirmed as headliners alongside already confirmed Rob Zombie and Slayer, whilst the stage’s undercard is looking very tasty already, bolstering Good Charlotte, prog kings Coheed and Cambria and Opeth, desert rockers Clutch, circle pit connoisseurs Devildriver, industrial nutters Ministry, supergroup The Dead Daisies, Red Fang and Wakrat.
The third stage, now christened the Avalanche stage and being headlined by Sleeping with Sirens and Simple Plan, sees Four Year Strong, Basement, Issues, Crown the Empire, Knuckle Puck, Astroid Boys, The One Hundred and Greywind.
Finally, the Dogtooth stage also has its first additions in thrash veterans Exodus, Lost Society and God Damn.
So, that’s a nice little Christmas gift come early, isn’t it?
