Comprised of Billy Hills (vocals, rhythm guitar), Sam Harry (lead guitar), Will Whitehead (bass guitar), and Ben Harrison (drums), DROWN were formed at the end of 2021, and hail from across the South-East of England. Fusing together everyone from Deftones, Title Fight, and Reuben, DROWN wear their hearts on their sleeves, producing a sound that deftly blends genres. The forthright foursome, who are unafraid to prise open the envelope or speak up about social issues that weigh on their mind, have spent the past few years shaping their intoxicating sound and live set. Supports slots and shows with the likes of Jamie Lenman, awakebutstillinbed, and Youth Illusion have also helped increase the band’s rising stock. With a wealth of material at their deposal, and a strong desire to extensively tour whenever possible, DROWN’s quality, industriousness, and drive are destined to see the post-grunge crew stamp their imprint on the UK scene.
The rising quartet’s new single, Butterflies, is an ideal showcase piece, and it’s destined to elevate the emo-punks. It’s a muscular slab of post-grunge laced with melancholy, raw passion, and a consuming hook. Backed by a gripping video, and with the promise of a slew of shows for the Spring, DROWN’s time is now.
