Summary:

Eddie 9V harnesses the power of twelve hot rod cars, one for each song on his incendiary album Saratoga, due for release via Ruf Records on Friday, November 22nd.

Atlanta, Georgia based American guitarist extraordinaire Eddie 9V is certainly upping the voltage more than that meagre amount as he plugs in and lets rip to fire out his new studio album Saratoga today on Friday, November 22nd, Via Ruf Records, currently touring the UK supporting Robert Jon & The Wreck, as well as his own headlining shows.

His career started when he was 15 via his way to the roots and blues club circuits in Atlanta which has bode him well by these 12 incendiary songs, point proven by the title track Saratoga.

9VIt’s a sumptuous toetapper to get you on the dancefloor as Eddie 9V sings with a throaty delivery, deft guitar lines and earworm choruses.

Halo is soul of the highest order, beginning acoustically, settling down to brass pieces and a heavenly vocal.

The tears keep falling as Cry Like A River is a bonafide heartmelter. Gospel pieces add a sheen to an already perfect song.

‘Love Moves Slow’ for this sultry ballad, ebbing and flowing around a howled lead vocal and snappy drum patterns.

Doo wop handclaps drive ‘Delta’ via a river that chooses its path for another dyed in the wool ballad, abrasive guitar lines and prominent saxophone.

Eddie 9V goes up the gears for ‘Red River’, a full blooded rocking rager, ending on fiery funk.

‘Wasp Weather’ has a sting to give this jive talking rhythm and blues, gaining speed for bass bombast and a piano tinged outro.

Southern rock vibes from ‘Truckee’ whoop and holler for a barroom ballbuster.

‘Tides’ opens gently towards a midway swing section, closing on a laid back guitar solo.

Another silky smooth ballad breezes in to let ‘Love You All The Way Down’ that doesn’t lose any of its tenacity to make for my album highlight.

‘Chamber Of Reflection’ got my attention from a boisterous brass intro, adding extra venom to a soaring Eddie 9V vocal, closing on more gritty sax.

‘The Road To Nowhere’ rounds off this highly impressive album in style as it’s the heaviest track by far, dished out by a put up or shut up potency. Surf music styles dominate, closing the album with a bang, not a whimper!
