Put the CD on and turn it up to level 'ANNOY THE NEIGHBORS ' setting, you will be blown away with whats got to be one of this years best little albums to come out of Aus!

You know the old saying “Don’t judge a book by the cover ” right! Well if you judge the cover art of this new album by Electric Mary, it really is as good inside as the eye catching and risque’ outside which definitely draws you in. That said, when you eventually put the CD on and turn it up to level ‘ANNOY THE NEIGHBORS ‘ setting, you will be blown away with whats got to be one of this years best little albums to come out of OZ!

Sweet Mary C ‘ a fantastic start to the first track. You get the hot n sticky atmosphere of a southern Kentucky states slide guitar mixed in with some real cool harmonica playing. This song took me back to my youth and a sound I’ve not heard much since the 1970’s, a true blue double denim heaven for sure! A great song which runs for around 3mins 5 sec’s, a shame it’s so short as this just left me wanting more of the same! Thank god for the rewind button!!

Welcome To The Otherside ‘. I didn’t quite know what to expect with this one, my first thoughts of course were Motorhead! It’s one mother of a rock song, powerful and right in your face with it’s fast paced beat. Personally I think it’s a corker of a song and is a great edition to this five track E.P. Next up is ‘Nicotine ‘, almost verging on a blues style intro, lead singer Rusty builds it up until again the guys burst into life and and knock out a beast of a song, the riffs alone at mid point put the hair on the back my neck on end! I’m envious of those who are getting to see the guys play live during their on going UK tour.

Now ‘Already Gone ‘ is just stunning! Reminiscent for me of Bad Company from the early 70’s. Heavy rock sounds mixed with a melodic ballad style, and it was great to hear the old Hammond making an appearance after such a long break out in the cold. It started by making me feel all hippy-fied and nostalgic, then came all the mellow tones that just push this song out from the crowd. It’s also got a cracking bit of Hendrix free style jazz guitar playing with ton’s of verb and over bite!

Last of all is ‘So Cruel ‘, After a magical showcase of Rusty’s vocal prowess, this song takes on a life of it’s own with a kaleidoscope of sounds mixed and blended together to make yet again another corker! The harmony’s are spot on, and all the guys have pulled together with not just this song but with the whole E.P.

If we’d just had a few more tracks added to the list this would have been one mega full album to finish off 2014. But I can confidently recommend that you should go and get a copy of this though. I’m getting mine and it’s very worthy of a place on my shelves.
