Fresh from her debut performance at the Glastonbury festival recently, Elles Bailey releases her ‘Ballad Of A Broken Dream’ single, taken from her forthcoming album Beneath The Neon Glow via Cooking Vinyl Records on August 9th, 2024 as well as a lengthy headlining UK tour.
Considering the songs subject about tackling mental health being a musican, I found this five minute catchy ballad to be a message of hope from deft acoustic guitar swathes, earworm drum patterns and a heartmelting lead vocal from Elles.
Elles adds,” There is no denying the link between musicans and mental health and the toil that this chosen path can take on a creative. The track follows the story of a tortured artist who, though undeniably exceeding talented, has ended his career playing dive bars, where no one knows his name. The song is a very personal song to me however tragically it’s the story of so many incredible talents who struggle with their mental health”.
