Exile The Traitor, pre-Bloodstock festival interview

Exile The Traitor are set to tear up the New Blood Stage on Friday 10th at this years Bloodstock.

We catch up with the guys to find out more about them, what their are about the festival and what you lucky Bloodstock go-er’s can expect from them!

If you can the readers a quick  introduction to the band?

We are Exile The Traitor, a 5 piece melodic death metal band from Glasgow, Scotland. We formed in August 2011 so we have not been a band for very long.

Our main influences are bands like At The Gates, The Black Dahlia Murder, Darkest Hour and others that blend death metal with a more melodic edge. We have all played together in previous bands over the years but never really committed to it so after we got together and decided on our sound it all seemed to come together really fast.

We are:

Anton Franzen – Vocals

Robert Keogh – Guitar

Kenny Middleton – Guitar

Will Keogh – Bass/Vocals

Kerr Grey – Drums

Have you ever been to Bloodstock before?

Sadly to say we are all Bloodstock virgins. We could not have picked a better year because the line up is astonishing. Definitely going to make the most out of the experience.

Why did you want to become part of the New Blood Stage lineup?

If we are honest it was so we could play on the same festival as The Black Dahlia Murder hahaha other than that it was because Bloodstock not only puts on the best signed bands but also gives smaller bands like us a chance to get our music out to people who would never hear it.

So horns to Simon Hall and the rest of the guys for supporting unsigned metal.

What was your initial reaction when you found out you were playing the New Blood Stage?

When the announcement was made that we had won the Metal 2 The Masses we were all speechless. Being that we have been together for less than a year we didn’t have any idea that we could actually win.

What is your opinion of the Bloodstock lineup?

We think the line-up is amazing. A lot of folk kinda grumble about it but its such a diverse line-up that shows so many different types of metal but without ever really being mainstream. Think the UK is lucky to have such a festival.

What are you looking forward to at Bloodstock?

Obviously we are looking forward to our performance and showing what we can do but apart from that we are looking forward to seeing some amazing bands and meeting some fantastic people. Its going to be a few days to remember that’s for sure

What can the audience expect from you at the festival?

We always have a good time on-stage and give it our all so the audience can expect to be humming our riffs for days while their necks recover

Can you sum up Bloodstock in one sentence?

Simply the best TRUE metal festival there is!

Any message you would like to pass on to the readers?

Keep supporting unsigned metal because the smaller bands may not be small for long.

Thank you very much for the interview and see you all at Bloodstock \m/

Thank you guys for taking the time out to complete this interview, we’re looking forward to seeing you at Bloodstock \m/
