Falling Eden – The Underground, Stoke.

Considering this was only the second Falling Eden gig, the first being way back in August 2018, they may have been nervous being first on a three band bill but any doubts were blown away as they tore into set opener ‘Falling Eden’. Their debut album Our Time Is Coming showed a lot of promise but the six songs they played from it tonight showed their time has definitely come judging by this performance. From my position front centre their sound engulfed as it is a much heavier monster played live. Everything seemed turned up to ten as lead vocalist Adi Moscati belted it out with aplomb as it musically switched between indie and heavy rock. The heavy side came to the fore with the riff heavy outro.

‘Breakout’ wore Big Country influences on its sleeve with some jarring guitar lines from Rick Mason. The dynamics here raised the bar even higher. ‘And I Know’ pulses heavily on distorted bass guitar lines from Rudi Heinemann and swathes of keyboards from Jazz Sladen. Mighty “Woah oh oh’s” were belted out and as well as being a hard hitting drummer, Steven Hadzik has one helluva vocal to! Heaviest track played was by far ‘Don’t Look Down’. The laid back verses see the band muscle up for the choruses leading to a fleet fingered guitar solo from Rick. The rhythm section of Rudi and Steven dominate ‘Voices’ with some hefty backing to the piercing guitar lines and soul searching lead vocals. Their set ends far too soon with the aptly titled ‘Our Time Is Coming’. Jazz tempo drum patterns give it an extra edge as the track pounds along towards a bombastic outro and when it ends, the silence from the stage seems deafening!
