The first thing comes to one’s mind when listening to Falls of Rauros is the epic “Lord of the Rings” saga. Obviously, it was the source of their  inspiration but this time it is also atmospheric black metal with folk elements. Falls of Rauros hail from Portland, USA and are known since 2005, which means the 10 year anniversary for the band is due next year. In less than two months this band is going to present their brand new full-length album, called “Believe In No Coming Shore”. This is the third studio album for the band, just right after their split with the fellow black metallers Panopticon.

Falls of Rauros - Believe In No Coming Shore“Believe In No Coming Shore” is a hypnotizing black metal set of six vibrant songs with a quite traditional length of 42 minutes.  If there is going to be a collection of the top of mesmerizing atmospheric black metal albums of the year, “Believe In No Coming Shore” must rise to the top. The album sounds quite technical with brilliant guitar parts and the a slow pace, the obtuse low sound drum parts creates just the perfect hypnotizing spiritual atmosphere for the a cold and rainy autumn evening. Small and delicate bits of folk, instrumental parts enriches it with variety and makes the album even more listenable. Those 42 minutes pass so fast that one can listen to the album several times on repeat without a break.

The album opens and closes with the melodic instrumental tracks “Blue Misshapen Dusk” and title track “Believe In No Coming Shore”. These tracks are also the shortest on the album. Between them, there are four darker and heavier songs that tell the story of the ancestors. It is a very continuous and masterfully built set of songs recorded by Falls of Rauros.

Reviewers pick: just listen the whole album from the very first track to the last one before judging it. The more times – the better. It will catch you.
