Summary:

This EP does have a low budget feel to it, which isnt a huge surprise as most small bands do struggle for money, but don't let that bother you - the EP is certainly well worth a listen.

Flight 49 - That smell of sweat and sinFlight 49 are a four piece hard rock band from Llandudno in North Wales.  Formed in 2011, they started work on their debut EP in 2013 and it’s now finally here – That smell of sweat and sin.

Brief comments on a couple of tracks…

“Rage” opens with a piano intro before that’s replaced by the guitars and then the vocals kick in.  This is probably the song I like least on the EP.  Most of it is straightforward rock, but then they throw in a section with screaming and an almost rap vocal which just feels out of place.

I think this EP is the first time I’ve heard of a hard rock band covering Dolly Parton, but that’s exactly what Flight 49 have done with their cover of “9 to 5”.  It’s actually a pretty good cover, and I can imagine it goes down well at gigs.
