Forever In The Making, a new band to me and I’m glad their PR Dan Carter introduced me to their ballistic metal majesty, point proven by their latest single, ‘Above The Snakes’. The Derby UK based band were formed in 2013, were held back during lockdown, but return kicking and screaming, venting their frustration through their music.
The song registered to me after one listen of this five minute mosher. It’s a myriad of everchanging tempos that don’t overstay their welcome as it veers off into pit opening prowess that follow a gentle, calm before the storm intro and sparse drum patterns that herald the lungbusting vocals from Danie.
Midway it goes up a gear when the kick drums come to the fore, heading off into staccato beats as clean and growled vocals add to the intensity, as doom metal vibes crush with glee, closing on claustrophobic soundscapes.
The band proclaim, “After a line up change and coming back to play music after lockdown, we had a discussion about where to take the sound of our music. We wanted to experiment with deeper vibes and darker tones. Above The Snakes is the result of that discussion and the start of our new journey as a band.”
