Brit Garage rock trio ‘Indigo Bones’ are prepared to set up with their new self-titled debut EP, out in January. Before then, here’s an introduction to the band…..
What is the full band line-up, who plays what?
Chris – Guitar / Vox, Marty – Drums and on Mark – Bass / Vox
How and when did the band form? Tell us anything interesting about your hometown.
The band was formed in February 2016 in Hull, UK. We had worked together before on previous projects, and after they had run their course we started a new chapter and Indigo Bones was formed. Anything interesting about Hull? We started the civil war!
When and how did the band really start gelling and solidifying?
We started straight away, because we didn’t have a choice! We had a UK tour booked for the end of March and as of February had precisely 0 songs! We locked ourselves away in our rehearsal space and spent every available waking minute writing. We tend to work well under pressure, and a slew of tour dates with nothing to play seemed to bring out the best in us. We’re a pretty tight unit these days. We look out for each other like brothers.
What are your musical influences?
We tend to listen to a lot of two piece bands, White Stripes, Deap Vally, Royal Blood, but our band’s favourite band is probably a Canadian outfit called July Talk. Having said that, we all have pretty broad musical tastes and our music is just as much influenced by life and experience as by the music we listen to. Stories about old friends and new vices.
Where did the name of band come from?
Indigo Bones are what you get when you jump out of the hotel room window chasing after the TV.
How far back does your history with each other (the band members) extend? are you friends from school or any family relations?
Mark and Chris met at the first Humber Street Sesh festival a couple of years ago. They were pretty good friends by the time they met Marty a couple of years later. We’re probably all descendants of Ghengis Khan.
Where have you played or toured? Please name all countries / regions and recognised bands that you have played with.
We went out on our first UK tour in March of this year, but since then we’ve been very much working hard behind the scenes. Our new EP is due for launch in the next couple of months with a slew of music videos to accompany it. We’ve been keeping ticking over with slots at Freedom Festival and Sheffield’s Tramlines Festival but we’re making friends and we’re looking forward to having an awesome 2017.
If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger packing an old transit van full of second hand instruments, setting it on fire and blasting the horn as he gets it up to 110mph and drives it off a cliff into a frozen lake.
Do you have a tour on the horizon?
We have lots of exciting stuff coming up in 2017 but nothing we can disclose right now. Keep an eye on our social media for updates.
