Gareth Nugent vocalist from the Highway To Hell winning band Gentlemen Of Distorted Sound Email Interview

This is Lee Walker from www.PlanetMosh.com conducting an interview with Gareth Nugent vocalist from the Highway To Hell wining band Gentlemen Of Distorted Sound.

LW – Firstly can I offer my congratulations on you winning the Highway To Hell event and landing prestigious slots on Hard Rock Hell, Hammerfest and the fun filled adventure that is Hard Rock Hell Ibiza Road Trip.

LW – Can you give the Planet Mosh readers a brief history of GODS ?

GN – We were in different bands and knew each other from gigging and rehearsing at the same studios. One day I turned up at the studio and the band I was with cancelled. I met up with Mako in the canteen and he said their singer couldn’t make it either. So we got talking about music and bands and the rest they say is history.

LW – How did you come up with the name Gentlemen Of Distorted Sound ?

GN – Well we are all gentlemen!! And we like to mix up our influences. A lot of thought and JD.

LW – What bands/artists influenced you while you were growing up ?

GN – You’d be amazed at what I listen to from Classical music to Rock and everything in between. I love music, I love songs. If a song inspires me and hits the emotions button I like it regardless of style.

LW – When you are playing Hard Rock Hell will you be nervous playing on the same bill as living legends such as Ace Frehley, Wolfsbane, The Quireboys, Girlschool etc ?
GN – It will be a major buzz. The stage is my play ground. I feel lost when I’m not performing. We all do. Plus we have been asked to support The Quireboys on their UK dates.

LW – What was it like playing HTH ?

GN –Playing HTH was brilliant so many great bands and so many people supporting the event it was intense.
LW – This years HTH had the best line up to date with some seriously great sounding bands playing on it. Which of these bands impressed you the most and why?
GN – There was so many bands playing, it would be unfair to name any. We thought all the bands were great.. I know that sounds like a cop out but it’s the truth. There are some serious bands out there.

LW – What are your plans for the immediate future? Do you have any plans to do any gigs/tours with any of the bands that played HTH ? Do you have any album/eps planned for release?

GN – As I said earlier we have the Quireboys tour kicking off in November and then we are in the studio recording an album for release in April. Two singles will be released before that and loads of touring here and abroad.

LW – Do you have any advice that you would to pass on to upandcoming bands out there who would like to succeed on events such as Highway To Hell ?

GN – Advice!! Me?? Never give up.

LW – Are there any messages that you would like to pass on to your fans ?

GN –We have amazing fans and we thank them for all their support. We are blessed to have so many people who believe in us. Without them we wouldn’t be able to do what we do.
