Ginger Live At Clwb Ifor Bach Cardiff
Jackdaw 4
Â
Jackdaw 4 is a pop rock but for this tour it’s only Willie Dowling and John Steel as it’s an acoustic tour. Saying that, due to both being full of the lurg, they have brought in Givvi Flynn for the vocals and Jackdaw’s bassist Andy Lewis. As acoustic set this wasn’t really my thing but they were good at what they do. They were quite funny and apart from Jedwood’s uncle (well, he looked like them), who decided to come and stand in front of me just after they started, it wasn’t a bad set.

This is one of Ginger’s acoustic tours which usually means a good laugh and lots of booze. This gig was no different. Unlike some of his previous tours, Ginger had said he would be playing some Wildhearts songs and as usual they went down well. A new ‘Osama’ song was also born tonight. Jase Edwards and ‘Random’ Jon Poole are accompanying Ginger on the tour. Jon managed to get arrested on the first night. He explained that he had drunk a bottle of vodka and was picked up by a shopping centre’s security staff for ‘playing’ on the escalators. They wouldn’t let him use the toilet so when they kicked him out he decided to “piss up the wallâ€. Apparently this is when the police turned up, and the rest is history.
The set was split into two parts, with the crowd joining in from the start. During the second half Willie Dowling and Givvi Flynn joined the rest of the guys on stage. As usual Ginger knows how to put on a good gig.
