Grand 60 was formed by Peter Lundh. he had been involved in a TV rock band competion but when it came to the third season he decided to leave and form his own band to enter into the competition. Despite not progressing past the first round, they got a very good reception and so decided to continue as a band and to write their debut album. The initial recordings were considered disappointing, so the recorded drums were replaced with programmed drums.
Listening to the album it’s a tricky one to categorise. On the one hand it’s heavy enough that it should be called Hard Rock, but on the other hand it’s got enough keyboards and the vocals are smooth enough that it should be metlodic rock. Really then it falls somewhere between the two. Sometimes that falling outside a genre would be a negative, but in this case the genres aren’t too dissimilar and there are enough elements of both genres that turns it into a positive as this album should appeal to both hard rock fans and melodic rock fans.
It’s a great album that’s really well worth checking out – definitely recommended.
