Rock and Roll hall of fame inductee  GREGG ALLMAN to recieve the LIVING LEGEND AWARD, one of music’s most respected and highly anticipated events is being held in the  USA for the first time, on Tuesday November the 4th at  AVALON in HOLLYWOOD

The 10th annual Classic Rock Roll Of Honour today announced that Gregg Allman, one of rock’s most acclaimed and beloved icons, will be this year’s recipient of the Living Legend award.

As one of the most prestigious awards in rock, the Living Legend Award honours those without whom rock music would not be what it is today; the innovators, the trailblazers, those who have inspired others to create music and have trodden the path for them to do so. Gregg Allman is all these things and more.

Gregg Allman is someone whose distinctively soulful voice and singular songwriting ability has resonated through a musical career that spans nearly half a century. He has long been a gifted natural interpreter of the blues, and his voice is one of the defining sounds in the history of American music. Along with the Allman Brothers Band, in which he was a founding member, he was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1995, and in 2012 the group was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 54th Annual Grammys. In 2011 he released the universally acclaimed Low Country Blues, his first solo album in 14 years, which gave him his highest US chart position ever when it debuted at Number 5 on Billboard’s Top 200 and Number 1 on the Top Blues Albums chart. Allman’s 2012 tell-all memoir, My Cross To Bear, was a New York Times Bestseller.

Gregg Allman: “I am so very honored to be receiving this award from Classic Rock. The magazine is one of my favourites and they are always so generous to me and the Brothers.”

Classic Rock editor Siân Llewellyn says: “Where can you start with Gregg Allman? The rock’n’roll world would be a very different (and far lesser) place without him. As a founding member and guiding light of the Allman Brothers Band and a hugely influential solo artist, Gregg has touched the lives of rock fans all over the globe for over four decades. I’m thrilled that we can call him Classic Rock Magazine’s Living Legend 2014.”

Previous winners include Jeff Beck, Alice Cooper, Jimmy Page, Lemmy, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop and ZZ Top.

The prestigious Living Legend award will be presented to Gregg Allman at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour ceremony on Tuesday, November 4 at the Avalon in Hollywood. This is the 10th anniversary of the awards and the first time they have been hosted outside London.

As previously announced, multi-platinum Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Sammy Hagar will serve as this year’s host, and voting is now open for the listener and fan-voted categories (list of nominees and link to vote below). Classic Rock magazine kicked things off last month in Hancock Park at the British Consulate (Los Angeles, CA) with the Classic Rock Awards 2014 Launch Party.
