Hard Rock Cafe to host “Freddie for a day” celebration honouring Rock legend Freddie Mercury

In honour of the 72nd birthday of legendary rock icon, Freddie Mercury, Hard Rock Cafe London will host a “Freddie for a Day” celebration. The one-day event brings Freddie fans and staff together to honour the musician’s life and legacy, while raising awareness and funds for the Mercury Phoenix Trust. On Wednesday 5 September, Hard Rock Cafe London will sell wearable moustaches and pins inspired by the legendary rocker to benefit the Mercury Phoenix Trust.

For one day only customers and staff at Hard Rock Cafe London are invited to join a day full of Queen music, moustaches, and birthday celebrations. There’ll be a Freddie-themed birthday cake and even Freddie fancy dress competition where ten of the best-dressed Freddie’s will compete for the top spot. The winning Freddie will receive a meal for two, as well as goodies from the Rock Shop and Universal Music.

Stephen Judge, President of Cafe Operations for Hard Rock International said, “Freddie Mercury was a legendary singer, songwriter and record producer, and we are honoured to continue our longstanding support of The Mercury Phoenix Trust though the ‘Freddie for a Day’ program. This year, we are excited to bring the program to more cafes than ever before and support ‘Freddie for a Day’ in our locations around the world, in addition to our European cafes, which have participated in the program for six years.”

Customers at Hard Rock Cafe London will have the opportunity to purchase wearable moustaches (£2) and a “Freddie for a Day” pin (£11.95) with proceeds benefiting the Mercury Phoenix Trust. Guests and staff will also join in on the fun with a full day of Queen music and are encouraged to wear their best Freddie Mercury-inspired gear.

Claudia Walker, head of the Mercury Phoenix Trust said, “Our ‘Freddie For A Day’ initiative is a global AIDS fundraising and awareness campaign, enabling fans around the world to help the Trust in its work and have fun whilst doing so. All of us at the Trust are delighted to be extending our relationship with Stephen Judge and his team as Hard Rock Cafes go global with ‘Freddie For A Day.’ What a wonderful way to celebrate Freddie’s life and at the same time raise funds for the charity set up in his name to fight AIDS worldwide.”
