Hardcore Superstar reach out to grab you with their potion of sleazy metal riffs and 80s rock melodies on ‘Abrakadabra’
Dripping with the sweat of 80s synthesisers and devilish metal riffs. Hardcore Superstar (HCSS) has melded two genres into one with the magic of Abrakadabra.
Preluding fans with the essence of familiarity. The pre-album singles: Catch Me If you Can ignites the classic Hardcore Superstar vibe invoked by 1000 harpies and the frenzied spirit of HCSS.
The second single, from this album, oozes the smouldering and hypnotic as Jocke slithers into the dark mind of a psycho killer on Dreams In Red, you hardly notice the metal edge on this vengeful number. Carefully crafted, is it a slight play of the hand as to what’s in store on the rest of the album.
Soft harmonies give way to blistering guitar riffs as the HCSS mystical rhythm draws you in on Weep When You Die. Still, there’s no real sign of the two genres melding on this third release to bring you Abrakadabra but wait we’re just talking the singles leading up to the album release.
The latest Video Forever and a Day delivers 80s power rock, like a homage to David Coverdale. Whitesnake has a new makeover courtesy of HCSS.
As we edge into the revival of 80’s rock. Opening track Abrakadabra slithers and slides with a slight Celtic edge start on the drums, slowly descending into modern power rock. Now I feel we’re given the vision of the concept of the album.
Not taking it all too seriously the vibrant and electric Influencer has a good stab at social media’s ‘give it to me for free’ influencers. You can imagine not the horror of the roller skate and posers face back in the day on Hollywood’s sunset strip, realising that they’ve missed out on thousands of dollars in spandex promotions!!
Throwing in a curveball. The drop beat rhythm and dirty sludgy downplayed guitars of Give Me a Smile reverberates of the ‘Rocket From The Crypt’ – ”On a Rope” – a splendid addition to mixing things up.
Be sure to check out the power metal solo on One For All and speaking of heavy riffing solos Throw A Brick marches right up to your face and ‘Ka boom’ this little sister delivers an opus of rock n roll.
Closing with the very harmonic Fighter, ”get your act under control, shut your mouth, silence is golden” – think the ‘Standing On The Edge ‘Vs ‘Here Comes That Sick Bitch‘ for the Hardcore spirit of the song.
