Think of Barcelona and you think of sun-kissed beaches, curvaceous ladies and cold sangria – and that is exactly the feeling that this debut album from Spanish AOR mob Hardreams evokes.
This is bright and breezy hard pop-rock, filled with catchy hooks and pleasing melodies – but, not a lot else, if truth be told. At least nothing new anyway, as it fairly faithfully recreates the sound of the West Coast of the late Eighties/early Nineties, with its listenable mix of rollicking rockers and faux power ballads. It’s well-written and very nicely performed, but one for genre purists and Firefest devotees only.
