Hell to pay, hailing from Manchester release their 2nd E.P as a prelude to their full album due sometime next year. They have just completed a uk tour in support of this E.P, with a launch party in their home city, before ending the tour with another launch party at the Boston Rooms, London, via nearly every major uk city.
‘Blown it all away’ is the first track, and showcases Hell To Pays musical direction, full on in your face rock n roll, full of tasty guitar licks, a pounding back beat, coupled with Dans soaring vocals, make this band a force to be reckoned with.
With an almost country feel, an acoustic guitar opens ‘Going Down’, but its not long before it kicks up a gear, and some serious riffing takes over, full of surging riffs, this track just motors along, an inventive solo lifts the 2nd half of the song, ending in a full on chorus and some serious high pitched singing from Dan.
‘Mistreated’ is the third track and is a good rocky number, Dan’s singing shines on this track, full of heartache about a love gone bad, Dario plays a great solo on this, soaring notes to complement Dans vocals.
‘Touch It’ is the final track, and I feel the best of the bunch, a fast paced rocker, soaring vocals and lush harmonies make this the stand out track.
There are no real surprises here, just full of honest down to earth rock songs, 8/10, can wait for the album, it should be a cracker.
