Ever since their inception in 2018, downcast have accumulated a slew of endorsements by many renowned industry tastemakers. Alex Baker at Kerrang! has long championed the band, as well as Punktastic, BBC, and Alternative Press. Although the pandemic and line-up changes have halted their expected trajectory, the emotional punks used the downtime of lockdown wisely and have now amassed an arsenal of recorded material which is set to be unleashed this year and next. With a revitalised line-up of Liam Edwards (Vocals), Ben Lucas (Guitar and Backing Vocals), Jeff Bowyer (Bass), and Jamie Hill (Drums), downcast are poised to be one of the breakout bands of 2022.

First up, the lively quartet will drop the single, Britannia Mills, which is an absolute firecracker blessed with stocky layered riffs, raucous energy and soaring melodies. Vocalist Liam Edwards discusses the track: “‘Britannia Mills’ describes a challenging time in my life where I had to deal with a lot of traumatic experiences. I found myself in a bad situation that I eventually walked away from. The song describes the things that happened during this time and the struggles that I had following it.”

Loaded to the gills with an incoming debut album and more, there is nothing stopping the spirited four-piece this time around!
