HURON, pre-Bloodstock festival interview

HURON are set to destroy the New Blood Stage on Sunday 13th at this years Bloodstock.

We catch up with the Neil to find out more about them, what their are about the festival and what you lucky Bloodstock go-er’s can expect when they take to the stgae!

If you can give the readers a quick introduction to the band?

We formed back in 2007 in Plymouth and have 2 albums, ‘Cheyne Stoking’ and ‘Mary Celeste’, and a new EP ‘War Party‘ out on general release.

We play melodic, thrash metal with a Southern groove throw in for good measure. Infact, people have been trying to pigeon-hole us for years but I guess we’re just plain and simple Heavy Fucking Metal.

Our influences range from various music genres. Obviously all the classic metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Metallica through to more recent bands such as Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch etc…

HURON is

Vocals – Sean Palmer

Guitar / Vox – Neil “Sick-Boy” Sims

Guitar / Vox – Rimmy Sinclair

Bass / Vox – Rohan James

Drums – Rory “Otto von Potato” Conroy

Have you ever been to Bloodstock before? If so when and what did you enjoy most about it?

I (Neil) personally haven’t but some of the other guys have been to Bloodstock before.

Why did you want to become part of the New Blood Stage line up?

We just wanted to play this amazing metal festival and the door opened up for us to play the New Blood Stage.

What was your initial reaction when you found out you where playing on the New Blood Stage?

Well, having tried for the last three or four years to get onto the bill, it was just a great buzz to get told that due to the quality of our second album “Mary Celeste”, that we had been chosen to play the New Blood Stage.

What is your opinion of the Bloodstock lineup?

A very strong and exciting line up that will without doubt entertain everyone.

What are you looking forward to most at Bloodstock?

Unfortunately for me, I have a prolapsed disc in my back which I’m waiting to have an operation on, so just like this years Download Festival and Bulldog Bash, I will, with great sadness and frustration, be missing out on the whole experience. But, I know the guys, and my stand-in, are all buzzing to get up there and raise bloody-hell on the New Blood stage.

What can the audience expect from you at the festival?

A full octane, balls out, face-melter of a show.

Can you sum up Bloodstock in one sentence?

I can do it in three words. HEAVY FUCKING METAL!!!!

Any message you wish to pass on to the PM readers?

Drink plenty of beer and have a damn good time rocking out.
