Inquisition – Audio, Glasgow – 14/07/2014

Inquisition, Maelstrom and  Nolti Nan Gana Nan Nolta show at .@AudioGlasgow reviewed by @AnybodyBC for @Planetmosh

And yet another summer Monday in Glasgow and yet another great event in the Audio club. This time a break from the death metal gigs, there was a black metal evening, headlined by Inquisition themselves.

Maelstrom
Maelstrom

Nolti Nan Gana Nan Nolta from Edinburgh was the very first to invade the stage.  Beginning with a long solemn intro, these Scottish black metallers simply did everything they supposed to do: warm up the audience (which was very supportive), show quality black/thrash metal and soak in darkness and blood red lights. Something in between Marduk and Absu with a hint of Bathory – that’s how one can describe this fast and dark music After half an hour show, three guys are off the stage.

Maelstrom was the biggest band in numbers this evening. Six metalheads in smart outfits and loads of melodic black metal, mixed with some progressive elements. The band definitely stood out the whole event and looked the brightest by all means. Like an epic and still dark fairytale just before the satanic masterminds Inquisition.
Then the time finally came for the main reason people gathered in Audio – Inquisition. As soon as the huge company of Maelstrom cleared the stage, there started appearing dark Inquisition’s signs: evil goat heads, for instance.

And then, two guys with the neatly done make up appeared in the front of the audience. The band totally occupied the whole club with grim tunes of their recognizable black metal sound. Although the club was not totally crowded this time, there was not even one soul in there not enjoying the show. Dagon and Incubus themselves, seemed to be glad with the audience and the whole show as well. Inquisition played the set of ten songs from various albums (dominated more of the latest records) and came back for the encore, ending their one hour black metal ritual.
