From the ashes of North East based band Twister comes Juliet’s Not Dead. I reviewed their debut album Cursed And Corrected way back in November 13th 2020, an album that blew me away on the first listen and I also added “They have also chanelled the audacity of early Van Halen, the pop suss of Cheap Trick and the early energy of Def Leppard”.
So they have big boots to fill which they’ve effortlessly done with their sophomore album The World Is Ours, released on February 7th 2025 on TMR Records/Earache Digital Distribution.
These ten tracks stride with head held high, point proven by album opener ‘Sinner Or Saint’. It starts the album heavily with intense riffing to keep the headbangers happy with a punishing aural attack.
‘Thrillseekers’ hurtles along with skin flaying ferocity, hitting hard and heavy, making for an early album highlight, as a histrionic lead vocal is a statement of intent.
Melodic rock swathes wash over ‘Open Fire’. Guitar lines and sugar sweet choruses raise the bar higher towards prominent bass and drum overload.
A skittery intro to‘Battle Scarred’ from a tight rhythm section, pushes a sedate vocal that escalates to stadium filling glory.
‘Notorious’ is no wet blanket as it riffs full throttle towards yet another drum masterclass for another full on headbanger.
‘Passing Ships’ is a totally beautiful number of power ballad precision to melt the coldest heart with ease.
Guitars barge their way in to ‘Double Life’, stealing the glory from huge verses.
‘Last One Standing’ is an epic to end all epics, raging along as this turbocharger melts the tarmac, heralding band fulled choruses with a put up or shut up delivery.
‘Time Changes’ do just that as this stunner throws out choruses making it look so simple until guitars crush all in their wake.
‘Capsize’ closes this behemoth of an album with soft and gentle balladry, lighting up for a finale that leaves the listener wanting more.

About ‘This world Is Ours’, Stevie states “I love this album, not only do I think it’s the best music we’ve ever written, but it was also the most enjoyable writing and recording process I’ve ever been a part of. Jack & I wrote for most of 2023. We were even recording demos while on tour around Europe. From the get go we knew what we wanted to say with this collection of songs. As a band you come up against so many challenges and we wanted this album to reflect all of the emotions, difficult decisions, and strong bonds we’ve made over the last couple of years.
Getting the songs ready to record for the final time is always my favourite part of the process but also one of the most tricky. We demo them fully so every layer and part is where it should be and critique and change bits until we are happy with it. However it’s sometimes difficult to know when you’re done. Thankfully we had the right production team behind it. Approaching it with a clear view of what we wanted the final result to be. Romesh (Dodangoda) and the boys at Longwave made our job easy and we literally smiled and laughed our way through it. We hope anyone who hears it will hear the joy behind the music no matter the subject.”
