KISS have finally been officially confirmed as the final headliner for Download 2015.
After the rumours and leaked posters from bassist Gene Simmons, the ‘hottest band in the world’ have finally taken their place on the bill as Sunday night headliners alongside Slipknot and Muse. It’s the band’s first UK festival appearance since their last slot at Download in 2008. Frontman Paul Stanley says “Download has become a tradition of stature that separates the pretenders from the contenders and the champs from the chimps. It will be an honour to take our turf and leave no doubt why we wear the crown.”
Simmons also added: “To all our fans – our intention is to get on that stage, blow the heavens to smithereens and take no prisoners”
Playing below them on the Sunday is Motley Crue, who will be making their final ever UK festival appearance before finishing their careers at the end of 2015. Bassist Nikki Sixx says “It’s always an over the top day and night at Download, and we’re really excited to be coming over to the UK and playing the show.”
Third on the Main stage will be Slash, bringing along Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators in tow. The legendary guitarist says “Download is a very special event for me. It’s been a major destination since I started and I’m always excited to be a part of it.”
The final band to be announced is Enter Shikari, who like Black Stone Cherry will headline the second stage for the second time in three eyars. Vocalist Rou Reynolds says “The thing I love more than anything is playing outside at night. We thank Download for the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the great outdoors and engulf and deluge festival-goers with our noise. It is an honour to be closing the night – and because of this we will bring illuminations with us. Do attend.”
