Farnham based trio Kit Trigg emerge from the recording wilderness with ‘Snake In The Grass’, recently released via RPM Management to coincide with an extensive spring tour, supporting Hayseed Dixie.
The last music they released was their 2023’s’, critically acclaimed ‘Goin For Glory’ EP, also reviewed by Planetmosh.
Vocals and guitar from Kit Trigg sees him proclaim, “I wrote this tune on a ten minute drive to the shops in my VW camper. I had these pent up feelings that just burst out of me and I remember thinking,” No way, that’s how I felt? Cool” ! The lyrics have some satirical colour, but there’s some really subtle wisdom in some of the lines. It’s made better by a fat riff when I was a teenager and forgot about it, plus the three part Eagles style harmonies”.
My take on ‘Snake In The Grass’ is that they like their guitars, surely pushing the recording levels in the red in the studio. Vocals are rapped, but with a full on lungbusting tirade to capture the ire of the song. Huge powerchords will keep the headbangers happy, also from a vicious, fuzzed up guitar solo, a rhythm section to die for, along with sugar sweet band delivered backing vocals. Job done! Welcome back!
