Lord formed in the Outback area of Australia and were initially known as Dungeon. They relocated to Sydney and by 2005 had toured with bands including Nightwish, Megadeth, Opeth, Yngwie Malmsteen and more. They’d also released 9 albums and a DVD. Then in 2005 they had a change of lineup and decided to change their name to Lord. Since then they’ve toured with more big name bands, released two EPs and four albums. Now their latest album is here – Digital lies.
Brief comments on a few tracks…
The first song is ‘Betrayal blind’ (‘Incipid’ being a 34 second intro). It’s an interesting mix – its got a strong grounding in metal with its heavy guitar driven sound and the rapid paced drumming, but the vocals are more melodic rock than metal. It’s a combination that works very well though.
‘Digital lies’ keeps the melodic rock vocals and softens down the music slightly, so its halfway between Metal and Hard Rock combined with the melodic vocals. Again it works very well
‘The chalkboard project’ is one of three songs in excess of 8 minutes long. It’s got a really heavy opening, and that sets the tone for the whole song – this is definitely Metal. The guitars are heavy, the drums are fast and the vocals are more shouting than singing.
A great album – metal with a strong melodic rock element.
