Lost Prophets, Leeds O2 Academy, 21/04/12.

Welsh heroes bring out the big guns for the ‘Weapons’ tour.

A sold out Leeds Academy bursting at the seams was certainly the place to be on a Saturday night, and what a way to get things moving than by a massive dose of Dubstep dished out by the mighty Modestep (8/10) who don’t just take the roof off, they also dismantle the walls and jackhammer the foundations with a bass sound so loud the drinks bottles in the chiller cabinets leap around in an alcoholic moshpit.
An awesome cover of Cee Lo Green’s ’Fuck You’ follows on from their own ’To The Stars’. Metalling it up with R.A.T.M.’s ’Killing In The Name Of’ and finishing the set with the monster chart hit ’Sunlight’.

Watching these guys videos on You Tube or MTV Dance won’t get you anywhere near to the live experience, be sure to catch them on their proposed tour later in the year.

The welcoming roar for the headliners Lost Prophets (9/10) is deafening, let’s not forget we’re dealing with a Download headline band here, as the band launch into ‘Bring ‘Em Down’ and from this point on the Yorkshire crowd are in the palm of the Welsh boys hands. Hit after hit follow, ‘Can’t Catch Tomorrow…’, ‘A Town Called Hypocrisy’, ‘Last Summer’, the list goes on. Ian Watkins vocals though seem to struggle at times but he never ducks out of a note all night and delivers with as much passion as he did during the early Lozt Prophetz days.
The set list covers most of the bands career but finishes on a winner with the anthemic ‘Last Train Home’ before the band are surprisingly joined onstage by Kids In Glass Houses singer and fellow Celt Aled Phillips for a storming rendition of ‘Burn Burn’ and a couple of encore’s .
A really impressive set from a still much underrated band who continue to build and build.
