SVART RECORDS announces the signing of LOTUS THIEF. A San Francisco-based duo, LOTUS THIEF will release their debut album, Rervm, this coming autumn on CD, double-vinyl, and digital formats through SVART. Comprising the immense talents of Bezaelith (Botanist, Mina Loy, The Night Falls) and Otrebor (Botanist, Ordo Obsidium), LOTUS THIEF weave a compelling union of metal, space rock, and ambient sounds, all with the purpose to pass along the knowledge of superlative ancient texts. Although both members play in the critically acclaimed Botanist, LOTUS THIEF is to be viewed as its own separate entity.
Rervm, LOTUS THIEF’s debut recording, is a translation-based retelling of De Rerum Natura (or On the Nature of Things) by the Roman poet and philosopher Titus Lucretius Carus, 1st century BC. Final release date, cover, and tracklisting will be announced shortly, but in the meantime, the first taste of LOTUS THIEF can be heard exclusively HERE.
