Summary:

It's a great album and in my mind surpasses the standard set by "35". Well worth a listen.

Formed in 1983, German hard rock band Mad Max have a brand new album. Their last album (35) was released in 2018, 35 years since the band formed. Thankfully the new album isnt called 37, it’s Stormchild rising. One thing it does have in common with it’s predecessor is that it’s another really strong rock album.

Check out the Single edit of the song “Ladies & Gentlemen” featuring childrens entertainer Detlec Jöcker and the rock and roll children. With the exception of the chorus when the childrens choir are singing then there’s not much difference between this and the standard album version other than the fact the album version is in English (both versions are on the gatefold edition of the CD).

Songs such as “Mindhunter” are strong songs with a catchy chorus. Coming straight after “Mindhunter” is “Rain rain” which ups the pace and heaviness.

The song “The blues ain’t no stranger” features a guitar solo from Stryper guitarist Oz Fox, a band Mad Max have known since they toured together in the 80s

“Take her” is a cover of the Rough Cutt and features guest vocals from original Rough Cutt vocalist (and frontman fro Quiet Riot) Paul Shortino.

It’s a great album and in my mind surpasses the standard set by “35”. Well worth a listen.
