Summary:

Be wary of Magic Mary, a band that will blow your speakers to shreds, due to the ferocity of their six track debut EP, Red Lights Beam on the Exit Place.

Stoke based quartet Magic Mary are far from being tragic as they cast a spell over their recently released six track debut EP, Red Lights Beam on the Exit Place, available on all major streaming platforms.

Opening track ‘Gaslight’ is an early statement of intent, point proven by riff after riff after motherfu**ing riff, channeling their ACDC influences worn on their sleeves for four speaker rattling minutes of full throttle ferocity.

‘She Gives Me Love’ is all sledgehammer dynamics that ground and pound relentlessly, taking no prisoners for this ear bruising rocker over a wiry lead vocal, sending it up the gears towards a short but raucous outro guitar solo.

Thunderbirds are go as ‘Thunderbird 5’ is a lumbering beast of four minutes blues blustre, burning up to the stratosphere on a shimmering lead vocal.

‘The Hydra’ bites down hard for this blink and you’ll miss this eerie headbanger and the fretboard fury outro is one for the air guitarists to lose their minds to.

‘Darkstar’ is the heaviest song here that confidently strides along on a drum overload battery, brick heavy riffing, once again closing a song on molten metal soloing.

They pause for a well deserved break as final track ‘Red Lights Beam on the Exit Place’ is a dreamy, five fleeting minutes of sublime nuances. Vocals are delivered with a beautiful croon, setting a scene for a song of heartmelting vibes. Guitar lines don’t intrude but have enough verve to keep it on track. Hypnotic drum parts and laid back bass keep the beat for a tight rhythm section to shine, turning full circle for a glass shattering outro.
