MAIR at Les-Fest 2013
MAIR at Les-Fest 2013

MAIR are set to play the New Blood Stage at this years Bloodstock festival on Friday the 9th August.

We catch up with the band to find out more about them, the festival, their thoughts and what you lucky Bloodstock go-er’s will see!

Can you give the readers a quick introduction to the band.
MAIR are:
Andy on lead
Davy on rhythm
Del on vocals
Den on drums
Miranda on bass
And we are a 5 piece metal band from Glasgow, Scotland who smoke, drink and have an all round great time!

How would you describe your sound.
West of Scotland Southern Groove metal \m/

Why did you want to become part of the New Blood Stage line up?
Well, we had been asked to play the heats last year but couldn’t commit due to schedule conflicts but were raring to go for this years event – mainly because we thought it would be awesome to play our first (hopefully of many) slots at a main metal festival. We battered on through with blood, sweat and tears and done it so we are very proud to not only play but get to hang with some of the awesome bands and people that we have met along the way.

What was your initial reaction when you found out you were playing on the New Blood Stage?
Well, after the initial and obligatory jumping about mental going off our heads, we couldn’t believe it. But then we went to the Classic and got pisehd!

What can the audience expect from you at the festival.
Well if you haven’t seen the MAIR show, why not? Big chunky bluesy riffs and beats, rumbling bass and flying solo’s – and jump about mental off our heads energy on stage. And then there’s Del…ooft he he

What has been the bands biggest achievement so far?
Getting paid our first beer for playing was why we started, but our biggest achievement before winning M2M was getting to open Les-fest – hands down.

Have you ever been to Bloodstock before? If so when and what did you enjoy most about it.
None of us have ever been.

What is your opinion of the Bloodstock line-up.
It will be a mixed bag of firsts for some of us and seeing favourites along with old favourites without fallen brothers – RIP Jeff Hanneman.

What are you looking forward to most at Bloodstock.
Getting to play is the ultimate, hope we get a good crowd and give it. The bands of course and also getting to meet lot’s of new metal loving maniac friends!

Can you sum up Bloodstock in one sentence!
Head banging, beer drinking, fast, smoking metal extravaganza!

Any message you wish to pass on to the PM readers
We would love to see each and every one of you support the metal brotherhood and come along to Bloodstock – it’s where it is happening and we need you one and all! Thanks for all your support \m/

Thank you for taking the time out to complete this interview, we are looking forward to seeing you at Bloodstock \m/ \m/
