Summary:

It's a very good album - the songs are all very good, but that lack of a really lively or heavy song to really wake you up means that the overall feel of the album is just a bit too laid back for my liking.

Guitarist and producer Michael Landau has over the years had a very impressive career. As a solo musician he’s released a number of albums as well as more with various bands, but as a session musician he’s worked with a string of artists. The list of artists he’s worked with is impressive – Pink Floyd, Joni Mitchell, Seal, Richard Marx, James Taylor, Michael Jackson and many more.

One surprising bit about the album is that Michael Landau is known for doing a lot of instrumental music, but this album is not instrumental – instead he’s chosen to release an album with vocals.

THere’s a very laid back feel to most of the songs on the album, with a few having a bit more energy but never quite getting to rock territory. The songs are all very good and the guitar playing is excellent, but I do think it needs one or two much louder songs to add some much needed variation. Even “We’re alright” which is one of the heaviest tracks just feels slightly muted.
