Mid Reflection – Interview

UK crossover crew MID REFLECTION arrive with their debut EP ‘Outcast’, on Friday 24th November. We had the boys over for a chat…..

What is the full band line-up, who plays what?

We have Matt aka 2T’Z on vocals, Martin on guitars, Nate on the bass, and Dave on drums.

How and when did the band form? Tell us anything interesting about your hometown.

The band formed in London in 2016. We all met online via the Joinmybandwebsite, although we had to get through 2 drummers before we found Dave and cemented the current line-up. Musically we wanted a rock and punk sound but wanted to combine that with rap influences on the vocals so we reached out to 2T’Z who had previous Grime and Rap work had over 10k views online. We all clicked and the rest is history.

What are your musical influences?

We have a wide range of influences including The Clash, Everlast, Sublime and Linkin Park,

Where did the name of band come from?

The band name conveys the ‘reflective’ nature of our music – especially the emotional lyrics which reflect upon 2T’Z experiences growing up such as being bullied to the extent he had to move schools multiple times. Every song is a reflection of those experiences with meaningful lyrics which hopefully touch the listener

Where have you played or toured?

Most of our shows have been in the London/South East and we’ve played with Imperial Leisure, New Town Kings & Riskee and the Ridicule.

In your opinion, how is your band different from all the other bands out there?

We’re not really trying to fit in with any particular scene or sound – we have quite a unique sound due combining punk and rock music with a grime and rap influenced vocal delivery.

If a deaf person were to ask you to describe the sound of your music, how would you describe it?

We’d probably describe in relation to the emotions because even if you’ve never heard music you’d still understand pain, sadness and rage – all of which are expressed in our sound!

Where can we find your social media sites?
