Sweden’s Miss Behaviour have just released their third full-length record called ‘Double Agent’ and is by far the best work they have done to date, the debut CD ‘Heart Of Midwinter’ was released in 2006, while follow-up ‘Last Woman Standing’ was released in 2011.
This latest release is full of melodic, well-written songs in the classic 80′s AOR sound but with a slight modern edge. This and other recent releases from bands like H.E.A.T really show why Sweden is at the forefront of melodic rock right now.
‘On With The Show’ is a strong melodic rock opening track, with a great hook, ‘Double Agent’ is pure synth/AOR magic while ‘Cold Response’ maintains the high standard of song writing. Miss Behaviour mix and blend elements of glam with Melodic rock on ‘Magical Feeling’, one of my favourites on here. This is where this band excel, a brilliant record with a superb guitar solo and a stunning chorus. The ballad ‘Corporation Arms’ really kicks things up a gear with some delicate acoustic guitar work and a killer chorus.
‘Love Reflector’ doesn’t work for me, to many influences going on here with the song never really finding its own identity, however the band hit their stride again for the heavier ‘Edge Of The World’.
Elsewhere ‘Dancing With Danger’ and ‘Midnight Runner’ are very impressive as is the nearly eight minute melodic rocker ‘The Cause Of Liberty’, the album closes with another ballad ‘Silver Rain’.
This really is a great melodic AOR record and is now sitting high up on my list of top albums of the year.
